This dry-grown Cabernet Sauvignon has a Barossa richness that is wholly evident in its structure. Sourced from our vineyards within the Krondorf Village, this wine has tremendous vitality that makes it stand out alone. V I N T A G E 2011 was a difficult vintage Australia-wide with four times the average rainfall recorded and many growers having to contend with downy mildew, powdery mildew and botrytis. Hard work by Charlie and his dedicated team in the cellar, coupled with good vineyard selections, resulted in the production of a balanced delicious wine. S T Y L E Dark, sweet fruit on the nose, complemented by some apparent but subtle new French oak character, this wine shows lovely depth of dark berry flavours with a hint of the traditional leafy Cabernet character. V I N I F I C A T I O N The normal Charles Melton melange of techniques: whole bunch fermentation, along with de-stemmed but uncrushed fruit. On completion of 10 day ferment, the wine is run off and pressed before being pumped into 100% French oak barriques. The wine is left to age on lees for 26 months prior to being settled, and then lightly filtered prior to bottling. This wine will repay careful cellaring for at least a decade after release.
