2011 Charles Melton Wines Grains of Paradise Shiraz – Stelvin 750ml

The Grains of Paradise Shiraz is a testament to Charles Melton’s philosophy to maintain the value and tradition of selecting high quality parcels of fruit from one single vineyard located in the heart of the Barossa Valley that dates back to the early 1900’s.   V I N T A G E 2011 was a difficult vintage Australia-wide with four times the average rainfall recorded and many growers having to contend with downy mildew, powdery mildew and botrytis. Hard work by Charlie and his dedicated team in the cellar coupled with good vineyard selections resulted in the production of a balanced delicious drink.   S T Y L E A beautiful amalgam of sweet vanillin American oak and perfumed Shiraz leads to a finely balanced, smooth palate, that still shows the traditional Barossa depth and roundness yet retains a lightness of touch from its soft tannic finish.   V I N I F I C A T I O N Grains of Paradise production reflects our wish to exemplify our interpretation of the classic Barossa Shiraz style. Rigorous cap management is practised to get full colour and flavour extraction with the wine then being transferred to 100% American barriques for aging on lees for 24 months. The wine is then given a light filtration prior to bottling.
